Requesting a RiverWare Viewer License
 

The RiverWare Viewer runs on the following platforms:

  • Windows machines with Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems
  • Sun Solaris (Unix) workstations with Solaris 2.7 or higher operating systems.

The RiverWare Viewer license will be generated specifically for your computer and its operating system. In order to issue the correct license file to you, we will need the information listed under RiverWare Viewer User Information below as well as the information listed under either Machine Information for Microsoft Windows License or Machine Information for Solaris License.

Please e-mail your information to installsupport@cadswes.colorado.edu. We will e-mail you the RiverWare Viewer license file within two business days.

Machine Information For Microsoft Windows License

  1. Machine Host Name:
  2. Machine Ethernet Physical Address:

Instructions:

Host Name is the name of your machine.

Ethernet Physical Address is the Ethernet card's unique identity. It may also be referred as a hardware address or MAC (medium access control) address. It is a 6-byte hexadecimal number represented by 12 digits, usually appearing as digits separated by a dash: xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Each digit is a number between 0 and 9 or a letter between A and F (Example: 00-40-05-2C-0E-9F).

Following are the instructions on how to obtain the host name and the Ethernet physical address of your machine:

  1. Log on to the Windows machine that will be running RiverWare Viewer.
     
  2. Open a Command Prompt window. This can be done by clicking on Start, and then Run. In the dialogue box that appears, type the text below and press <Enter>.

  3. A Command Prompt window appears. Type the text below and press <Enter>.

        ipconfig /all

    You will see an entry entitled "Host Name," which is the host name of your machine. You will also see an entry entitled "Physical Address." This string is the Ethernet Physical Address of your machine. If there is more than one physical address listed and you are not sure which one is the correct one, please email CADSWES all the addresses.

Machine Information For Solaris License

  1. Machine host name:

Instructions:

Host name is the name of your machine.

Host ID is the unique numeric identifier of your machine in hexadecimal format.

Following are the instructions on how to obtain the host name and the host ID of your machine:

  1. Log on to the Solaris machine that will be running RiverWare Viewer.
  2. To obtain the host name, type the following text at the command prompt and press <Enter>:
     
         hostname
     
  3. To obtain the host ID, type the following text at the command prompt and press <Enter>:
     
         hostid
     
    The host ID is a string containing a combination of eight numbers (0 through 9) and/or letters (a through f) in the format of xxxxxxxx (example: 80ae390f).
